What i have learned
In 1103, I learned how to make an effective argument and how to make my ideas flow naturally. We started the semester learning different ways to approach the same tasks, from different ways to plan a paper to different ways to organize a paper. I started to realize that I did not use the standard ways of writing that I learned in high school. I stopped following the same old three paragraph essays and started to write more organically and my writing started to represent me. UWRT 1103 taught me how to ultimately think differently about what you are doing. This can help in many other classes where I get stuck trying to do exactly was is said to do. Not everything in life follows a certain format and it is important to show who you are in not only your writing, but in everything you do. Yes, this class helped me write better, but I also learned how to take simple ideas and break them down so they are less familiar and more understandable; this process is called defamiliarization. For example, if I do not understand a physics problem, sometimes it helps to focus on what the question is saying then trying to understand what it means.
