"say what you need to say"
"Say" by John Mayer is about saying what you need to say because you may loose the chance to do so. Though the song spoke toward the more literal sense of dying before you had the chance, it still relates to the more realistic side of not saying or doing something you wish you had. He touches on the idea that you need express your feelings, and that if you keep them in it can cause you "frustration". If you speak your mind you will be more able to clear your mind. He refers having the courage to speak and say what you are feeling to get issues off of your chest.
Saying what you need to say is a fundamental concept that can cause a road block with most students. The class UWRT 1103 helps students simply, say what they need to say. With a variety of workshops and writing activities, I was able to say what I was on my mind and apply it to my writing. Through peer edits and conferences, I was able to communicate my goals for my paper and then get effective feedback. Even in class, we were always put into groups and encourage to talk to one another so if we had and questions or need help, there was always someone to talk to whether it was someone from your group, someone else's group, or even the professor.
